Time Away and a Thank You!

First thank you everyone who left such nice comments and well wish for everyone here.  Things are slowly returning back to normal.  I think it is going to take a long time for things to be totally normal, but at least we are headed in the right direction.  Second sorry for long absents here. I was a way for the weekend and life has been really busy.  I am hoping to do better in the coming weeks.
As I said I just had a great long weekend.  I was in Maryland visiting with my Best Friend and her family.  We had a great  four and half days of fun, sun and food.  I arrived Saturday afternoon and returned this afternoon.  They live in the most beautiful area of Maryland.  Their house sits on a hill surrounded by hills and fields.  We enjoyed sitting outside, gardening, and hanging out.  We had hoped for some crafting time but never got there.  So I am posting a recent Birthday card I made for one of my co workers.  I used my new button basics and dies!  I love them! All products but the 1/2 circle pattern paper (Lily Bee) are PaperTrey.  Thanks for stopping by!  Have a wonderful rest of the week!

Tornadoes

Warning a non crafting post.  It has been a long few days here in my town.  I hope to get to crafting soon.

These are the words I wrote Sunday,  After a F3 tornado came to town and turned many lives up side down. I still had no power or phone. My lap top happened to be charged so I took the time to write some.  I have never in the forty plus years I have been alive seen such devastation.  It is such an odd thing to drive out of your subdivision and go two blocks and where there was a subdivision it is no more.   There are just pieces of homes, trees and what not.  So this is my story. I am lucky the tornado did not hit my home and I am fine. Losing power and phone no big deal.  I pray for those that lost it all.
Here is my Saturday:
About twenty four hours ago the City of Sanford changed for ever.  A large tornado came through the city starting in Lemon Springs and moving quickly across until it finally stopped well beyond Sanford. It destroyed homes and large businesses.  For the first time in my life I was not sure what would happen and what the out come would be.  I sat in the bathtub for about 15min and when I did go out I had no power or phones.  I at that point had no idea a tornado touched down less than a mile from my home.  My neighborhood thankfully was untouched.  Others were not so lucky,  St Andrews Church area was leveled.  As well as Lowes Home store and the Food Lion strip.  The pictures I saw in the paper today were amazing.  To get to church this morning I had to drive way out of the way.  I passed areas that were completely leveled and then the next house had one window blown out.  I passed the area where I believe it started.  The house I saw was missing part of its roof and there were two tractor trailers laying on their sides as if some just tipped them over(above picture).  Then when you looked left the path was noted by trees that looked as though someone just snapped them in the middle.  As I sit here now I still have no power and have not seen the larger areas that were struck. My prayers go out to those that lost everything.

Thanks for stopping by.

Weekend!

Well Sunday is almost done and I have only had time to make one card.  I even received new goodies this past week and had hoped it would be a great creative weekend.  Then the real world got in the way!  Yesterday I was up and out before 7am  came home at 2pm and was out the door again at 3:45.  Today I had to do everything that I usually do on Saturdays.  So laundry, yard work and house work were done.  I also woke up with a cold today and just do not feel great and after doing all have too's I had no steam for the fun stuff.  I did make one card yesterday for the party I went to last night.  However I am not showing that today instead I am sharing the card I made my Dad.
The card is using some Tim Holtz stuff.  I used his paper for the background and the stamps are one of my favorites of his sets.  I used Memento tuxedo back for the arrows and sentiment.  I used Distress Ink Vintage Photo for the clock, background on the card stock using a brush to make the effect, and around the cork I also sponged the ink too.  I added two brads using my I Rock for my embellishment.  He received the card yesterday in the mail and really liked it!  I love sharing my stuff with my family and friends.  Well I just realized as I was typing that we have a Birthday tomorrow at work so I am off to make a card before I head to bed!  Have a great evening!  Thanks for stopping by!

Tuesday

Happy Tuesday!  I am posting a card using  my new stamps that I got from My Favorite Things last week!  I am loving these a la mode stamps!  I love coffee so I had to have this one! I also used my new die cut from them too!  I love the flower die! I sewed a button for the center.  I colored with my copics and used Lily Bee paper for the layers. I just love lily bee paper!   Hope your week is going well!  I am hoping for the rest of the week to be a nice as the last two days!  Thanks for stopping by!
